5 Tips to stay fit while you are on vacation

Headed for a trip somewhere soon? Whether you’re going on a business trip or indulging on a refreshing getaway, traveling can sometimes throw you off your health and fitness routine. In fact, some even gain a few excess pounds after their trip.

Admit it. Most of us use our vacation as an excuse to go on an eating spree or skip workouts. But, there are plenty of ways to stay fit and look fabulous while traveling. Make sure to heed these tips if you want to stay sexy on your holiday or business trip.

Go for a run with a little sightseeing

Kick start your day on a high note by going for a sightseeing run on the place you’re visiting. Not only will it improve your mental health, but it will also clear your mind and prevent a variety of diseases, like high blood pressure. What’s more, it will take you to the different spots and landmarks of the place you’re exploring.

And, unlike other forms of exercises, you can literally do it anywhere with just a pair of sneakers.

Dancing is truly an excellent calorie-burner and a great form of exercise. In 30 minutes, a person who weighs 125 pounds can burn as much as 200 calories. And, it doesn’t have to be at a bar or club. Like running, you can dance wherever you want.

You can dance by the lake, at the beach or in your hotel room. You’ll have a blast doing it while reducing stress levels and burning a ton of calories.

Don’t skip breakfast

They don’t call breakfast as the day’s most important meal for nothing. It provides your body with the energy that it needs, and it ensures your metabolism starts on the right foot.

Truthfully, it’s tempting to skip breakfast when you’re traveling. After all, we all want to start our day as quickly as possible, especially since our time is limited and there are so many things to do.

Don’t make this mistake. If you’re too busy to make your own breakfast, just grab an apple or granola before you hit the road.

Plan your meals and workouts

In general, planning helps you stay calm since you’ll know what to expect, even if things don’t go as planned. And, travel is no exception. Plan your meals and workouts in advance, so that you won’t have any excuse to binge or skip a workout. Create a schedule and stick to it even when you’re on a holiday.

Eating out every day is a no-no

Part of the reason people travel is to taste foreign cuisines and new dishes. There are some people who plan their whole trip around sampling delicious food. But, eating out daily is pretty expensive.

Moreover, it’s unhealthy and stunts your progression in fitness.

So, stay at your hostel or hotel and cook some healthy homemade dishes. You may also go to a restaurant with healthy food options.

La Conquista (the Conquest) is a traditional Mexican dance that, as the name suggests, narrates the story of the Spanish conquest. Masked dancers play all the key historical players, from the conquistador Hernán Cortés and La Malinche, a Nahua woman who acted as his interpreter and adviser, to the Aztec ruler Moctezuma. The dance depicts the death of the latter at the hands of the former. It’s particularly popular in the western states of Michoacán and Jalisco, and although it’s not an indigenous dance, the tragic story it depicts is vital in terms of Mexican history, including the story of those who were here before the European arrival.

Trivia: The Mayans were strong believers and followers of astronomy. This is quite evident in how and why they built their monuments. At Chichen Itza, you can see a round-shaped observatory, the El Caracol, which was specifically used to gauge the positions of planets and the sun.
