Is pineapple a healthy choice to eat?

Summer means lots of tropical fruits and there is none that tops pineapple. It is one of the few tropical fruits that work well both raw and cooked. However, a fruit this good must have some drawbacks, right? Maybe sugar? This begs the question of is pineapple really a healthy choice to eat. You will be happy to know that it is! Below are some of the wonderfully healthy attributes of pineapple.

  • It’s full of vitamins

Pineapples are loaded with vitamin C, thiamine, B-6, magnesium, folate, riboflavin, iron, and niacin. In fact, one cup of pineapple will give you around 40 percent of your daily vitamin C requirement. It will also give you 10 percent of your thiamine, eight percent of B-6, 6 percent of your magnesium required daily, and four percent of riboflavin.

  • Builds immune system

Everyone is talking about improving their immune systems with the coronavirus still lurking. Pineapples have excellent antioxidants that provide for healthy immune support. That’s because of all the vitamin C it contains, as that is the main ingredient that protects your immune system. Vitamin C also offers protection for your body against free radicals, which can wreak havoc on your body’s cell structure.

  • Get younger skin

Did you know that eating pineapple can make you look younger? This is not instantaneous but can happen over time. That’s because the good stuff in pineapple helps boost collagen synthesis, which results in more flexible and firm skin. Everyone knows that better-looking skin makes you look younger!

  • It helps with blood pressure

The pineapple’s secret to helping your blood pressure is its enormous amount of potassium. This mineral reduces blood pressure and works to ease the tension between blood vessels.

  • Helps in overall health

Pineapples reduce the blood’s excessive coagulation because it has bromelain. This reduces blood clots. It also has a ton of manganese that is crucial to having bone strength along with connective tissue. It could also be a helpful mineral in preventing osteoporosis in older women.

  • Prevents cancer

Vitamin C and other antioxidants like beta carotene and vitamin A do a lot to prevent mouth, throat, and breast cancer. Other beneficial things in pineapple, like bromelain and manganese, also are proven cancer fighters.

Eating pineapple is a healthy way to maintain health and youth, so slice it, dice it, cook it, or eat it raw!

La Conquista (the Conquest) is a traditional Mexican dance that, as the name suggests, narrates the story of the Spanish conquest. Masked dancers play all the key historical players, from the conquistador Hernán Cortés and La Malinche, a Nahua woman who acted as his interpreter and adviser, to the Aztec ruler Moctezuma. The dance depicts the death of the latter at the hands of the former. It’s particularly popular in the western states of Michoacán and Jalisco, and although it’s not an indigenous dance, the tragic story it depicts is vital in terms of Mexican history, including the story of those who were here before the European arrival.

Trivia: The Mayans were strong believers and followers of astronomy. This is quite evident in how and why they built their monuments. At Chichen Itza, you can see a round-shaped observatory, the El Caracol, which was specifically used to gauge the positions of planets and the sun.
