Five reasons your salad probably tastes better at a restaurant

Upon venturing out to lunch or dinner, you may find yourself regularly ordering salads. However, when you go to make a meal at home, you might consistently turn away from these green dishes. The issue could very well be that the salads at the restaurant are tasting better than the ones you make at home. Once you learn the tricks, you can prepare tastier salads at home. On the other hand, you might decide that your at-home salads are actually healthier and opt to just stick with them.

1. Restaurants use seasoning

Think about how often you actually put seasoning into the salads that you make at home. Even those tiny packets that come with kits aren’t necessarily enough to give you the full flavor of a restaurant-style salad. One of the key ingredients that restaurants use is salt. This seasoning is the one that tends to bring more flavor to food. However, as you know, too much salt is unhealthy, especially when you are dealing with certain health conditions. Your salad might be tastier at the restaurant, but cutting back on the salt can have serious advantages for your health in the long term.

2. Restaurants have more ingredients

Unless you have planned out every detail of your salad before making it, you quite possibly don’t have all of the ingredients to make a restaurant salad at home. Think about some of the salads that you had while dining out. At least a portion of these salads likely had cheeses that you can’t find at the local grocery store, vegetables that are outside of what you typically purchase and dressings that you don’t store in the refrigerator at home on a regular basis. Remembering that the salad is much more than just lettuce will open your eyes as to why the dish is typically tastier at a restaurant.

3. Restaurants have professional chefs

When you are working on really sharpening your cooking and food-preparation skills, you might take this information as a bit of an insult. Keep in mind, however, that you can work your way to becoming a professional chef if you take the right steps, but you might just not be there yet. In a restaurant setting, a team of professionals works to determine what ingredients go best together. When you are making salads in your home kitchen, you are likely experimenting with an array of different food items. In the restaurant setting, a failed experiment might just end up in the garbage. At home, a questionable experiment may be what’s for dinner.

4. Restaurants have the right tools

Maybe you’ve had the experience of putting together all of your favorite ingredients and even following a recipe for a salad that you love. Despite all of your hard work in finding just the right ingredients, the flavors did not seem to come together well. For example, the salad might have tasted as though it didn’t have enough dressing or cheese on some parts of it. While your recipe might be excellent, the tools in your kitchen might not be the right fit. Restaurants have the right equipment to make salads in the best possible fashion.

5. Restaurants offer an experience

After a long day of work, the last thing that you want to do is cook dinner on some nights. Think about the last time that you cooked for a big party. After putting in all of the effort, you might have felt as though you didn’t even want to eat the food. The same can happen when you’re making a salad at home as opposed to ordering one in a restaurant. The salad that is made by someone else can taste better because you’re having more of a relaxed experience while eating it.

You might think that your mind is just playing tricks on you. However, when you talk to your friends and relatives, you may discover that all of you tend to think that salads taste better in restaurants. Now, you know some of the reasons why.
